PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Fogo Fogo’s Ca Ta Da takes us through a complex 4:30 hand-drawn, mixed-media animation. The film serves as a visual exploration of the song’s core message—how a lustful, aimless life leads nowhere. Every frame pulsates with energy, reinforcing the raw emotion of the music.

BACKGROUND
HISTORY
Rooted in African and Portuguese cultural heritage, the animation features an illustration by renowned artist Vhils, who also designed the album cover. This powerful artwork, appearing at both the beginning and end of the film, was included at the band’s request.
It pays tribute to key figures from Cape Verdean and Portuguese history, from revolutionary icons to legendary musicians.

50,000 DRAWINGS
HAND DRAWN
To illustrate Ca Ta Da’s concept, we created over 50,000 individual drawings, each meticulously crafted to capture movement, expression, and depth. This commitment to frame-by-frame animation gives the film an organic and immersive quality, making every second feel alive.

IN THE MAKING
PRE-PRODUCTION
Combined 3D animation and particle systems to refine timing and perspective, ensuring fluid motion and dynamic composition.
These digital foundations were then painstakingly traced and colored by hand, merging precision with artistic intuition in every frame.
